I loved Hooked, and I was actually kinda scared this wouldn’t live up to the standard the first book set. But, there was no need to be nervous. Because Scarred, both met and exceeded my expectations by a LOT. This is even better than I could imagine. The Lion king has always been a favourite of mine from early childhood, into my thirties. And McIntyre truly did it justice. The references are spot on, and just the way she transformed that world from Africa, to a fictional kingdom in the late 1800’s, early 1900’s, is glorious. And also make it feel like it has a touch of magic, a bit of fantasy, even though there’s none of that. Was really well done. Sara is an incredible FMC, she’s so ruthless, set on vengeance, and so badass. She’s the perfect partner for our scarred prince, with a tragic backstory to match. But they’re not my only favourite characters in the book, oh no. Simon, who broke my heart with that simple line ”…only you tell me you love me and teach me how to be a man.” Talk about tearing out my heart and stomping on it. You sweet child 💔 So yeah, Hooked was amazing, but Scarred was spectacular. This series is definitely for all of us who always rooted for the villain 🖤

Although "better" than Hooked, and by better I guess I mean it seemed to be less about sex and questionable fetishist, but slowly it starts peeling to unnecessary amounts of sexual situations. It doesn't do it for me.
