I’d say this is a 3.75. I’m a sucker for a sister trope so this really gutted me, and that ending had me going ?!? literally such a heartbreaking end I simply cannot.
i liked it better than the other two and i think i would like them better if i were to read them again after this

“Never will I apologise for being the monster they made me.”
Elizabeth’s storytelling is amazing and I love how she writes her characters. This book actually finished me. It was pain from the very start to the very end. The story is so so heartbreaking but so special too. It’s truly all about sisterhood and this story will stick with me for a long time.
Channi was such a strong character and her love for her sister was so admirable. The lengths that she was willing to go to to protect her and everything they both went through in this book was insane. The whole story is sad because of Channi’s childhood too, she just wanted to be loved 😫 I absolutely adored her and her story did make me cry like I knew it would.
Vanna was so sweet and lovely! I loved the bond between the sisters and I saw how fiercely they loved each other. Elizabeth knows how to write an animal companion! Ukar is Channi’s serpent best friend but is definitely more like family. I really enjoyed finding out about the history of the snakes and dragons.
Hokzuh was such an interesting character! From the moment he was introduced I was intrigued by him and wondered what would happen with his character. He was another character with such a sad backstory. His story with Channi is so tragic and my heart hurt for them both so so much. It was lovely to see the moments where they both understood each other as monsters in ways that nobody else could.
The six crimson cranes easter eggs warmed my heart and certain parallels destroyed me. The ending tore my heart out for more reasons that I expected and knowing what was coming did not make it hurt any less 💔 It was such a beautifully tragic story and I’m so so glad that I read it 🥹

I am so in love with this. The »Six Crimson Cranes« Duology had its ups and downs, but this prequel is so full of heart and soul, I find it even better than the sequels. »Her Radiant Curse« has a neat, consequential plot, and the two sisters, Channi and Vanna, are lovely characters. Their bond is unmatched, and I felt so much for Channi. I noticed some minor issues, but I had such a good time reading this, so really, I cannot complain. Didn't disappoint at all, I am so glad I gave this series another chance despite my concerns.

I had high hopes for this book because it’s one of the authors of the twisted tales series. And she always wrote amazing stories but I was really disappointed. It started out really slow and never really got better. I struggled to get through it but I hate not finishing in. It got semi interesting towards the end but enough for me to enjoy it.
