Loved this book so much! The coolest part for me, is that Bosch isn't going to be around forever (already dreading the day!) But Ballard is a bad ass too!! Caught the damn midnight men, and put away the people who killed the mechanic guy on new year's eve. She's super rad! :)

This is the book where Ballard really comes into her own. She and Harry are cut from the same cloth, seeking justice for victims no matter how many administrative feathers they ruffle. Very dark subject matter but Connelly avoids gratuitous or graphic descriptions. This is a great installment of this series and I can't wait to see where Ballard and Bosch go from here. Connelly has still got it!

Connelly consistently brings his A game to his novels. This one is no exception.

I don't want to spoil it for you. Go read it and enjoy it now.

The mystery and crime aspect? Good
A satisfying ending? Not really

Throughout this book I felt that the pandemic was shoehorned in, almost as if the book was written prior and then quickly followed up with “shit, better talk about masks and vaccines”.

The mentions of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter without taking any kind of stance was also strange
