I recommend this book to literally anyone who asks me what book to read. Is it long? Absurdly. Will it tear your heart out through your eyes and stomp on it a few times? For sure. Will you love very single word of it and wish it would never stop? One hundred percent.

This book is everything I love about reading. Yanagihara's writing style feels like wrapping up in your favorite blanket with your favorite warm drink. It feels good to read. She completely masters the ability to show and not tell, without making the reading monotonous or overly flowery. Each chapter, page, setting, I felt like I was there experiencing it all alongside the characters. And as the longest book I've ever read, I wanted it to keep going.

This book wrecked me. It wrecked me in the worst and best ways possible. I cried multiple times (which has rarely happened to me while reading) and I honestly couldn't read anything else for a few days because I couldn't stop thinking about it.
