So I read this. Okay I skimmed this. Okay I basically only read Jace/Clary/Simons notes. But like it was fun. And don't tell me how to live my life.

Best Shadowhunter guide :)

Kind of a for fans only thing. Not necessary to read for the understanding of the world in which Shadowhunters live. In fact, most of the things in here are things that the original books already tell. Does get a bit boring on the read through.

going back to read this brings back SOO MANY memories from back when i first read the mortal instruments!! literally teared up when all the runes came up

Such a fun book to have in your shadowhunter colelction

I loved the artwork and the little annotations from Simon, Clary and Jace. I also liked that I did get to learn some new things, but lots of it was old news which I had learned in the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices. Some parts were a lot more interesting than others, but all in all my feelings about this book are just OK, meh, mediocre.

In this companion book to the Mortal Instruments and somewhat the Infernal Devices series, readers get to learn some more about the rules and customs of the shadowhunter world. The drawings included were truly fantastic. There are also scribbles in the margins by the main characters of the Mortal Instruments letting the reader know their thoughts as they "read" the book. Interestingly, there are even passages from secondary characters such as Magnus Bane who are not a part of the Shadowhunter community. Unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy this very much, and I found it completely unnecessary. It didn't add any new information that you couldn't gleam from just reading the actual books.
