This is filled with stories and stuff that helped me understand the Mortal Instruments/Infernal Devices series. Plus it had me laughing at several points (Simon's footnotes were the best).

I went in with high expectations and I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was great, but half way in I found myself more excited about the character added side notes than the actual text that described the Shadowhunter world. This was also my first time reading a book like this, as in one that has been added to teach more about the world that I'm reading about and so perhaps next time I try something similar I'll be more prepared.
The artwork in this one, however, is out of this world. Gorgeous illustrations from first page to the last one.

<3333 so wholesome for some reason

Very boring which I expected because it's just a codex but a necessary read for someone getting into Cassandra Clare. I skimmed it and was definitely worth it.

This was actually very interesting. I've learned a lot about the world I love so much and I LIVED for all the snarky comments from Clary, Simon and Jace!

I like that the book had a lot of information about the world, but it did get boring from time to time.
