The implications at the end of the title story.. iconic. Definitely recommend reading in one sitting. Only wish it was a little bit longer. You know a novella is good when it leaves you contemplating the decisions one makes. This novella, to me, is like a modern day splatterpunk cannery row. LMAO a ridiculous comparison right? But to me it's the same concept. A character study about a person on the margin of society that is dependent on another for both physical and emotional survival. There just so happens to be several disgusting morbid scenes for the horror lovers. All the stars for being thought provoking about loneliness and what can happen when you gaslight a person, in the worst scenario possible.

Things have gotten worse since we last spoke:
I devoured this novella in one sitting, it reads so easily. The format makes it feel like I'm on a chat forum, I absolutely love it. It's so clever. The plot is... something. Disturbing, questionable, entertaining, interesting, disgusting... Because of it's size, it's really fast paced. I think it could have benefited from some extra pages to have more build up and make the story more engaging. Also, the ending was abrupt. But I think I liked it. 3/5.
The Enchantment:
Started off really good. Once again, disturbing. The writing is great. This story isn't in a chat room style, but it still reads easily. This story felt longer, even though it isn't, and I think the overall pacing is better than the first one. However, I hated the ending and the supernatural elements. 2/5.
You'll find it's like that all over:
Once again started really well. Writing is consistently good. But this one was extremely short, leaving hardly any time to get invested. And the ending was a bit of a let down. 2/5.

at the risk of appearing extremely mentally unwell, i’ll admit… i really enjoyed this one.
the title story.. what even is there to say? i knew what it would be and i enjoyed it for what it was. agnes is batshit insane but i’m obsessed with her and her story. her progression felt real and makes me wonder if that kind of deranged mental illness is within all of us and just hasn’t been unlocked yet… chilling.
the other two stories were good as well! i’m a sucker for religious messages in horror so the enchantment in particular had me hooked.
but overall yes, i had a great time with these just as i thought i would

I thought the writing was pretty clumsy and pulled me out of the stories a lot. I also felt like the first two stories were not good short story material; they needed more fleshing out and time spent on building up the story. As short stories they felt very rushed and unbelievable, kind of incomplete.

LOVED the first story, sort of dropped off after that but still really love the style of writing.
