This is one of my dearest childhood stories - definitely one of LM Montgomerys overlooked novels. The vivid imagery painted of the island and New Moon gives me tingles sometimes, and the characters are so so loveabe, even Aunt Elizabeth.

Worth noting that there is a character in the novel named Dean who is 37, and who flirts with Emily and implies that he desires Emily and states he will wait until she comes of age. Emily is 13.

I do think the author handles this quite well in that Emily is oblivious to his feelings because she is a literal child, but the narrator is not. (and it is quite clear to the reader.) The narrator does not necessarily villify Dean for attempting to pursue a child though, instead it's documented a simply a reality for young girls at this time in history.

which it often could be! so it was an interesting though excerise to go through while reading.

Quelle jeune fille extraordinaire ! Un peu plus sombre et piquante qu'Anne Shirley, mais toujours avec une envie de voir la beauté dans le monde qui met du baume au cœur...

DNF. I really didn't want to do this, but I can't see myself picking the book back up. like I tried, I was praying not to get distracted because I knew that the second I put this book down I would dread reopening it. lol. it's just so boring (I APOLOGISE)

I am sorry Mrs Montogmery. You will always be an inspiration and wonder for me.
this book just felt so childlike and I couldn't handle it. Also, the dramatics of a child mind is so funny. I bought this book due to it having the prettiest cover ever. I'm not joking it's like a white nymph fairy lady in a long white lacey gown looking all ethereal and basking under the moonlight. I'm keeping it just for the cover.

it doesn't help that my 12-year-old brother moved my bookmark around and I lost track of what page I was on. it was somewhere in the 115-150? I cant remember and tbh don't want to.

Montgomery really knows her genre: orphaned girl goes to live with people who don't actually want to take her in, and has some quirks they don't agree with. Over time, both the caretakers and the girl learn to look past some differences and appreciate each other.

This was very lovely to listen to- chill and enjoyable.
