This book has captured my heart in every way imaginable. It has taken me a little bit to finally read this book because I felt I would not like it, even though I was named after the loveable, fiery Emily. But boy was I wrong, this book fell beyond my expectations.
In Emily of New Moon we see the young orphan find a home in New moon with her two aunts and her uncle Jimmy. She is finding herself in the beautiful land of PEI and its enchanting to see her flourish and think and write though life's ups and downs.
Every main character has helped Emily in some ways but Emily herself has also helped and improved them. She meets dear friends like Teddy, Ilse and Perry that encourage and inspire her in many ways.
Emily of New Moon is an enlightening read about childhood and growing up. You can see yourself as a child through Emily having to make sense of this big world and what to become of it.
Emily is passionate, caring, sensitive and endearing and shows how beautiful, extraordinary and hard life can be through poems, stories and imagination.

Years ago I read the Anne of Green Gable series (maybe the first four books). I have always wanted to read the Emily trilogy. Although, I didn't enjoy this first book as much as the first Anne book, I am glad I read it, and plan to read the rest of the trilogy.
