I kept waiting for something more exciting/juicy to happen. I hate it when a book is about a supposedly really great author and I'm like...tbh your writing is mid so i don't buy it. he needs to be better.

I found this entire book a bit of a comedy of errors. That might have been the point. One wrong choice led to another, and another, and so on. It seemed this poor guy couldn’t seem to get anything right, but that was sort of the whole story of his life overall. And in the end, it forced him to take a good, hard look at it and re-evaluate. Sound familiar? It should because I would imagine that happens to a large percentage of people, especially moving from your 20s to 30s, which is the age of David, our main character.

I guess what made it a bit too much for me was that it was ridiculous. Maybe it was supposed to be. But any average person would have called 911 after finding the person sleeping beside you was dead (it happens at the beginning, so I’m not giving that away) and his excuse not to was just short of stupid. Then his agent, who seemed like a person with a good head on her shoulders, decided to help him move the body. And that whole process was just completely, 100%, unbelievable. It was just so dumb … funny … but dumb.

It was things of that nature that made this book fall a bit flat for me. Even while I still sort of enjoyed the level of stupidity (what does that say about me LOL). It was entertaining, if nothing else. Although I did think he was in huge shit with the dead guy's husband … that turned out to be another ridiculous part of the plot but still entertaining.

Would I recommend the book? Yes, if you were looking for a good, fun read, then I’d give it a go. Some might love it. I thought it was middle-of-the-road.

Weekend at Bernies but more emotional.

why freak out and assume you killed the guy? Do people go to jail when someone dies in their bed? He could've told the police that he said there were headache meds in the bathroom. Problem solved.
