I so badly wanted to like this book, and the characters. This is one of those stories that would have benefited SO much from dual POV— too many of Quinn’s behaviors left alarms going off in my head (so much unasked-for touching, getting her drunk without anyone else around, selective truth-telling, etc.) without enough good stuff to balance it out. Janie is quirky and sweet and honestly kind of relatable, but the rambling thought processes were sometimes frustrating to follow and just the whole format of the book was frustrating and I found myself scanning a lot to get though it. Additionally, most of the secondary and tertiary characters were frustrating, if not infuriating ; Jon and Jen in particular— SO toxic. I know I love most of Penny Reid’s works from the Winston Brothers and Good Folks series, so I’ll probably try the other books in this series, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

Cute story but a bit flat, especially in comparison to "Marriage Of Inconvenience", which takes place later in the series but I read it first.
I liked the characters and the story but I didn't love them. There where a few story lines that were just dropped at some point, so I'm left with a few unanswered questions and I don't really like that.
Also at least one spicy scenes would have been nice. Not just for the spice alone but also to see how the fmc would have coped with that after her previous experiences and because of how she is in general. Sounds weird now but once you start reading you'll know what I mean. I don't want to spoil to much but her brain is constantly on and running at full speed in every possible direction but the one most fitting for the situation and she is kind of blind to social clues.

I didn't like either character and just didn't feel any chemistry between them.  Janie seems to be on the spectrum and Quinn acts like a serial killer throughout the book.  Blech.

I really wanted to give this one 4 stars, but the execution wasn't quite there for me.
