Powerful, moving, emotional, honest, and stirring.
After the sudden 'BANG BANG BANG', Shawn, Will's brother, is shot dead in front of him. Now he is haunted with what to do next.

Rule 1: No crying
Rule 2: No snitching
Rule 3: Revenge

As he enters an elevator on his way down to the bottom, he learns the truth, and has an opportunity to shift the narrative that many have lost their lives to.

Sad that this is a reality in the world, but the way the story is broken down it is so human, so raw and unafraid to be what it is. Real.

I loved the written verse novel version of this when I read it and this is even more intense in a different way. Both versions are fantastic and Jason Reynolds is extremely talented.
