Literary cookbooks are all over the map, quality-wise, but this one is a hit. The source material encourages imaginative interpretation, and Fisher deftly interweaves long passages of text with clever and old-fashioned recipes and a sense of Carrollian humor. Many of the recipes are a bit dated at this point, but still fun to peruse, and plenty sound delicious.
