This is a difficult one to rate. The subject matter is pretty uncomfortable and the characters are quite unpleasant but it’s a fast read that keeps you guessing until the very end.
I can’t say I enjoyed it because, as I said, it’s bizarre and uncomfortable.
I actually looked at a flat on Cheyne Walk last year and can only imagine being significantly spooked if I’d chosen that flat and read this!
2023 Update: a few months after I read this the first time, I ended up moving a block north of Cheyne Walk. Any time I’d walk along Chelsea Embankment, I’d gawp at the houses along that street!

DNF at 30%. Literally so slow and uninteresting in terms of characters. I don’t have time for this

I must conclude, I don’t love domestic thrillers.
The book delivers all the things the sub genre suggests, a mysterious family history, alternating storylines. It all comes together well.

A definite page turner here. There were a couple pieces about this book I didn’t love, but I will admit that it had me pretty hooked. It’s a wild story with a lot of different storylines coming together to make it even more interesting.

I liked it, felt cozy to read. Really loved the writing style. Was a nice twist to everything.
