I thought the book was fine but I’m just so fucking tired of
EVERY historical fiction book having rape and unwanted pregnancy. As soon as I saw her being like omg why am I gaining weight?? I was out.
I’m over it!!!!! I get that it’s a thing that happens but it doesn’t have to happen in every fucking book

Loved the idea of the plot, and I think it was well executed. It was hard to keep up with at times (I listened on audio.), but it was still good! I enjoyed the story and loved the characters.

i had a hard time getting through this book. I think it may have been all the jumping back and forth in time. very glad to be finished.

I loved this. The way the story loops around itself is fascinating. The characters are rich and full, from the wild aunt to the stalwart sister, but most especially Ursula, the main character. In the many lives she leads, and her final choices, she is generous, creative, curious and interesting.

Hard to put down. Following the many lives lived by Ursula Todd, a woman born in England before the Great War.

i was so confused. i listened to this book and was very certain that i had skipped ahead or inadvertently rewound. the author's device of giving our heroine another chance, paired with the exact repetition of a scene was almost the death of me.
that said, i stuck with it anxious to see how it all worked out.
oddly, it left me kind of flat. i lost track of which life we were living. the characters were not well drawn - they seemed created to play off the heroine rather than to be individuals. perhaps i am a hopeless pollyanna, but i expect even the most trying of personalities to have a streak of nobility. the young morris' unkind behavior should not have been tolerated. izzie needed a stern talking to. and the mother started out quite well and ended a sour, intolerant woman. why?

Good...enjoyed reading it, didn't want to put down. But the writing is that of a 5 star. Still just a beach read at best. But a very good beach read.

Ok Le, despite your warnings I did read the whole thing (for lack of better options, currently) and yes, it was still just blah. I feel like Time Traveler’s Wife did a better job at juggling different timelines and Groundhog Day was much more enjoyable and Phil at least learned from his experiences, instead of just having vague dejavu and acting nonsensically as Ursula often does.
Ultimately, I knew I wasn’t into it because I kept getting distracted by other things in the middle of chapters.

This was a spectacular read! I loved the British history and I loved a lot of the characters. I found myself wishing over and over for Ursula to die just so she could get a do over. The book was a tad boring at times but the plot kept me interested enough to see how her next life would pan out. Atkinson did an excellent job stepping away from the norm and keeping her readers interested at the same time. Intricately weaved!
