I love books that have a neat and tidy and yet satisfying ending. This duology will definitely go down in my top favorites of all reads.

A wonderful second half to this duology. I found the series as a random KU ad and initially confused it with Gild. Fortunately, this was 100x better than Gild and will stay with me.

This is a love story, between Anna and Khiran, but it's also an adventure and exploration of human resiliency. I enjoyed meeting the rest of the immortals (and their powers), especially Cassius and Kaia. Love control and sea queen are powerful stuff.

Khiran remained endearing and lovable while still having an inherent rascal nature. I liked seeing him live as a mortal at a Nepalese Buddhist monastery and as a teacher in Australia.

The story is subtle in how it interacts with famous historical events. That's not the focus. Anna's heart balancing Khiran's zest for life. She may be scared of a new place and he's distrustful of the people, but they find a balance.

Great ending, exactly what I wanted.

4.5/5⭐️

The climax did feel a bit rushed and some of the protagonist’s aren’t as fleshed out but overall I love this duology and loved seeing how Anna and Khiran’s relationship develop even more. The ending felt like the perfect way to wrap up and end their tale. They can finally have the peace they always wanted together.

Once again Raeta’s writing just pulls you in and it’s just so good. I really felt the growing hopelessness about their situation leading up to seeing the big bad.

just as enjoyable as the first one. i'm glad we got more background for khiran and the rest of the immortals. some moments felt a little tedious, and i wish we got a little more from anna than what we did. but, while the ending was predictable, i found i didn't want it any other way.
