I have thoughts. Most of which are not positive. I really really wanted to love this book as much as the first but I don’t know it just felt lacking in certain areas. For example, the ending felt kind of anticlimactic. I get the tone of the book is more introspective and slow but the way The First died didn’t make sense like I get the metaphor of bees turning on their queen and killing her being a parallel to his inevitable demise. But the way they’d been running made me feel like the conclusion would take more than like 20 pages to resolve. It just fell flat for me. Yeah… disappointed to be completely honest.

Very different from the first book, instead of "look at these greatest hits from history!" it was more about the plot around the MMC and FMC, and how their relationship dynamic shifted. I really liked it.

I love this second installment. I love that we get more lore around immortals, and we get more romance.
I love how real this book felt in terms of how they struggled with not being able to use magic so they are traced by the big bad. And it was interesting how the MMC changed by the end of the book. In a good way.
This was a great conclusion to this duology. I felt like all my questions were answered and it wrapped up nicely. The ending was so sweet.

This book was just as beautiful and magical as the first of the duology. Following Anna and Khiran as they are on the run and hiding from the other gods is quite an adventure. There were more tears she'd, smiles and laughter for me while reading this one.
I read some reviews where people sad there didn't need a second book and that Khiran seems like an immature child but I don't see that. I see a man who has been on his own for a very long time. Yes he has moments where he seems childish but he also is trying desperately to save the people he loves and handle what thier new life gave him. I would have been just as happy to have had just Peaches & Honey but I'm thankful that the story continued in this one. I really enjoyed seeing them flourish and meeting the other gods.

Infinite stars. God tier. I cried no less than five times, so please add a drop to your tear jar, R. Raeta. Absolutely stunning work.
