This was a very informative book on the assassination of Lincoln. It details many of the eyewitnesses and the perpetrators’ accounts of the event. I wouldn’t say this is a non-biased account, but you can make your own conclusions on that! Definitely gruesome towards the end so just beware!
Graphic: Death, Gore, Suicide, Violence, Blood, Murder, War, Injury/Injury detail
This is a highly interesting and readable book. I would like to have seen more footnotes and documentation. There was a lot of detail in the book, but only about two pages of notes telling the sources of information. Overall, however, it is a good book that lives to the current acclaim.
Surprisingly enough I actually really enjoyed this. I love history, always have, I love it so much I'm actually majoring in general history, but I don't really like reading history books. I have to be really really interested in the topic at hand or I don't enjoy it at all. So because I love Lincoln and the Civil War era I decided to pick this up. I'm so glad I did. I learned a few thing I had never known before, and got a bit more information on thing I already did know. My favorite part of this whole book though it how its written. Its written like a thriller, so it reads like a thriller. Because of this it goes by much fast than you think it would, and is actually a very exciting read.
All in all I really enjoyed this book and plan of picking up more books in this Killing of Historical Figures series.

Every American knows John Wilkes Booth killed Lincoln but most people don’t really know everything that went on before during and after. Definitely a must read. I would give it 5 stars but I feel like they padded this book a lot
Extremely good account of the civil war. Got very dry after battles ended but nonetheless learned a lot about the background and aftermath of Lincoln’s death. One of the better non-fiction books I’ve read.

The amount of hypothetical thoughts scat ered throughout this book almost categorizes it as historical fiction, however, it is still a captivating read. I finish it in the day.
