A fascinating story well-told! The constant shifts in tense from past to present and sometimes future bothered me, and the narration was a little overdone, but still an enjoyable book!
A thrilling and suspenseful account of the last days of Lincoln's presidency, Bill O'Reilly actively describes the scene as if we were walking down the streets of Washington in 1865.
This book of sheer history highlighted many components to the entirety of the planned assassination. Unknown to my knowledge, there were actually attempts to end not only Lincoln's life, but also Ulysses S. Grant, Vice President Andrew Johnson, and also Secretary of State, William Seward.
Throughout the first 50 pages or so, I pondered as to why I checked this book out of my library. However, in a short time, O'Reilly sucks you into the scene and leaves you itching to know more about an assassination which changed the course of America for many years.

Wow! Great history book. I learned a lot! What a great president! I love Lincoln and hearing about his death is so sad. I know about his death but never in this much detail!
Very interesting. Easy read of a lot of information. And I am not a Bill O'Reilly fan.

I recently learned that Bill O'Reilly, a conservative journalist, has written a series of best-selling books covering critical historical events. This book was the first of the series, so I decided to try the audiobook (available from my local library).
I was familiar with the story of Lincoln's assassination from various history books, but I found the style engaging. I even learned a few new facts. In addition, the book is written in story form, which kept my interest, even though I knew how it would turn out.
This series has caught my interest, and I will continue to the next book.

Incredible book. I didn't want it to end. I learned a lot about the Civil War and about Lincoln that I didn't know. The writing style is very engaging and I loved the little profiles at the end that talked about what happened to those involved.
