Not even really sure where to begin! I enjoyed the writing style and narrators. I also really like how the reveals occurred throughout the book. I was able to figure out a large part of the twist early on however it was very well written!
Fern was an interesting character and I am not sure whether I liked her or not I definitely respected her! Drew was a total douche. Alice too. Rory also ends up being a douchy bastard.
I found the overall plot to be quite far fetched. Especially the epilogue. Honestly, the epilogue could’ve been left out entirely.
I give this 3 stars. Not 4 due to an outlandish plot and twist predictability.
I received an advance review audiobook copy from NetGalley.

AUDIOBOOK
Wow revenge is sweet in this novel about a husbands affair and the repercussions when his wife finds out he has moved her to the middle of nowhere just to be nearer to his other woman. This really is a twisted story but a great listen however I really didn’t like the wife or the husband as characters at all but maybe that was the point but it was hard to feel any sympathy for either of them

Lots of twists!
I enjoyed this book. I seem to be hyper critical of books lately, but this one held my attention well enough. There were definitely lots of twists and turns. They just kept coming, all the way to the very end. I think the ending was set up very well for the next one in the series. I will continue to read, I can't wait to see how it all plays out!

Firstly, this book lives up to the hype of previous reviews in that it is gripping, thrilling and unputdownable. Secondly, I found the first part of the book especially engaging as the narrative was told from two alternating perspectives - that of the doctor (Drew) and the eponymous wife (Fern). This technique worked really well to set the stage for what was to follow.
However, once what followed began to play out, Fern's voice became predominant. I listened to this as an audio book so whether this was due to the narrator (who had a strong Liverpool? accent) or the narrative itself, I found it became grating and somewhat monotonous. By then too, the plot had become largely predictable, so the promised shocking twists and turns didn't hold the impact for me that I'd hoped for.
The plot itself was problematic in some respects. Without wanting to give spoilers, in summary there were, I felt, a few holes, where I questioned the characters' motivations and actions, particularly those of Rory. The police investigation also seemed surprisingly cursory to me, as did the subsequent legal proceedings.
However, it was an engrossing read overall, and it's always intriguing to read about flawed relationships and how the characters resolve their problems, or dig very deep holes for themselves in trying to do so!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for providing me with an advance review copy of the book.

I really loved the plot of this book, so much so I’ve been reading all the books in this series. This was uniquely executed and I loved all the directions the next few books could go in as a result. I will say the subsequent books haven’t quite lived up to this one but it’s been a strong series by a strong writer.

Short, gripping, and suprising. Just what I was looking for.
Too predictable and the pacing too slow for my taste. But I really enjoy the epilogue.
If you haven't read too many mystery/ thrillers then you might enjoy this novel. As an avid reader, this didn't offer anything new.
***I would like to thank NetGalley, Daniel Hurst (the author), and Bookouture for graciously sending me a copy to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

3.5 rounded to 4
While the book moved at a slower pace than I would have preferred, I was fascinated by the story line and the perspective of both main characters - including the secrets they each had. While I had my suspicions, I was surprised at some of the pieces revealed at the end. It is a book I would read a part 2 of!
I was given the audiobook on ARC at Netgalley and in return gave my honest feedback.

Divertiu-me imenso este livro. Eu sei, não era suposto num thriller, mas... Estive com um sorriso nos lábios boa parte do tempo!!
Gostei bastante e ouvi-o num instante
