SpoilerWow. What a conniving protagonist. What a fantastic easy read.

this could be so good but it just didn’t live up to my expectations. the premise was intriguing but i just predicted every plot twist. i loved the vibe and the scenery but i just with the plottwists were less predictable and there was more tension because it kind of bored me.

So many secrets and lies, this was so hard to put down to see what happens next.
Marriage and an affair. Who knows what? What does he or she think, do, say?
Who’s playing who? I promise if you love a mystery that twists, turns, plots and plays with your mind this will do it.

I’m not sure how I feel about the first part of the ending. The part I'm a bit confused with is how it could possibly even happen, it just doesn’t seem believable to me. The 2nd part of the ending is a good little cliffhanger which is great!

This is a great book, I will definitely be following Daniel Hurst now!

While it’s true that a good doctor has job security, this peace of mind doesn’t always extend to his personal life. Relationship dependability requires both partners to put in effort. Trouble is, Dr. Drew Devlin has been investing time and ‘practicing’ elsewhere. He’s also cocky enough to believe he has everyone wrapped around his little finger.

I loved this deliciously wicked exploration into the thrill and unpredictability involved when someone believes he/she is getting away with something that nobody else knows about. My heart was pounding, I had a Cheshire cat sized grin plastered on my face and I definitely let an evil cackle or two escape while reading! Daniel Hurst is an auto-read author for me because he always delivers fast-paced, believable and heart thumping suspense. This book showcases Hurst at the top of his game.

This book offers up the perfect sized helping of ‘just desserts.’

*** I received an ARC of #The Doctor’s Wife from #NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

The Doctor’s Wife is written from the point of view of Drew the doctor as well as his wife Fern. Early in the book you will learn the doctor has been keeping a secret (or at least he thinks so) affair.

This story takes you down the twists and turns of deceit and how far people will go to hide just what they know.

The author did a great job of creating the characters. They are well developed and interesting. You can understand just how they feel.

The Doctor’s wife knew he’d had an affair when they moved to a small town to start over. She also knew that the other woman had already moved to that town with her husband. Now that the two couples are interacting together, what is going to happen next?
I wasn’t completely on board with Daniel Hurst’s previous book (The Couple in the Cabin) but I wanted to give it another try. This book hooked me in from the start and kept my interest almost until the very end. I didn’t love the epilogue but that was only just the last 10 minutes. Recommend!
*Thanks to Bookoutre and NetGalley for this advance audiobook copy for review.

The Doctor's Wife tells the story of Fern and Drew, a seemingly perfect couple who have just completed a move from the busy city of Manchester to a quiet and peaceful village just outside of Scotland. They meet and make friends with a couple who have recently undertaken a similar move, but is this really the first time they are meeting?

The story is told with both Fern and Drew as narrators. I particularly enjoyed the contrast between the two of them, each telling their account from their own point of view. The story is mainly told in the present, with a few flashbacks to 6 months previous, which helps to piece a few things together.

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was well written; the premise is fairly simple, but it was executed well. I loved the secrets and revelations that kept coming to light and I especially enjoyed the epilogue!

The Doctor’s Wife is a true page-turner. There are so many layers to the mystery that are gradually revealed, letting you know just a tiny bit more each time until you eventually get back to the opening scene. Just when you think you know the whole story, there is a twist at the end that leaves you yearning for a sequel.

This book kept me up all night! I couldn’t put it down!
