The story is written from two perspectives from two main characters who are married: Fern and Drew. They’re a manipulative and toxic couple who are hiding their own secrets from one another. I got The Perfect Marriage vibes when reading this book but this one is more sinister. I gave The Perfect Marriage 5 stars but The Doctor’s Wife has more depth to the story, in my opinion, and I also give this book 5 stars! The author, Daniel, added a prologue which explains Drew’s fate right off the bat but still managed to surprise me and add in some unforeseen twists that I enjoyed. He also has a nice letter at the end of the book where he gives his thanks and has a free psychological thriller that you can download for free from his website. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing the e-ARC for an honest review.

He thinks his secret is safe. But she knows the truth…
My husband is a doctor. He’s smart and charming and everybody trusts him. Except me.
On the surface, it looks like I have it all – the perfect marriage, the perfect husband, the perfect life. But it’s far from the truth.
Doctor Drew Devlin is not the respectable figure he makes out to be. The reason we moved to this beautiful, old property with a gorgeous view of the sea was because we needed to put our past behind us. It should’ve been a fresh start for us both.
Except I’ve discovered my husband has been lying to me again. He’s using the power he has in his job to mess with people’s lives, and to get exactly what he wants – no matter who it hurts.
But he’s underestimated me. I’ve had plenty of time, in this big, isolated house, to think about all of his mistakes.
And my husband has no idea what’s about to happen next…
My Opinion
You know a book is good when you finish it in one day! This is the second book I have read by Daniel Hurst and both have had an intricate, addictive plot. The books gets off to a slow start but do not let that fool you. An entertaining read. This was a nice, easy read - the plot was detailed but not difficult to follow and even has some good plot twists.

I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller filled with treachery and deceit. On the surface Fern is just the kept wife of a respected doctor. He sells her on the idea of moving from the city to a small village in order to live a slower pace of life and spend more time focused on each other. However , counting on her naïvety he as other plans in mind. This was a page turner for me ! I couldn’t wait to see how the story was going to unfold!
Moving away will solve all your problems? Or make them worse? Daniel Hurst kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time with these characters. I truly feel this could be a sequel and the story is not over yet.
The characters fit well together and nothing is dragged out like some thrillers. Has a great twist that I was not expecting. Highly recommend!

It took a lot of time to convince myself not to quit this book. I should have quit this one.
It is not even worth wasting time to write a review about that, therefore I summarise quickly as note for me for the future, not to waste time for this author.
In one sentence: nice story idea with a very poor and cheap execution, as if a middle schooler had written a long essay about some adult topics.
PLOT: 2⭐
The family physician Drew moves to a small Scottish village with his stay-at-home wife Fern to pursue his dream. His true motiv is however not that innocent, it is not about helping out a small village with a doctor`s office.
WRITING STLYE: 0⭐
ENDING: 0⭐
THRILLER Factor: 0⭐
CHEESY Factor: 100+ ⭐
That was my first and probably last book from Daniel Hurst.

I picked this cuz my last few books have been over 500 pages, and this was half of that. It was a quick, anticlimactic read.
There’s really only 4 characters in the book: Fern, Drew, Alice, and Rory. Drew is cheating on Fern with Alice. The plot was predictable with what was happening, whodunnit, and the consequences. In all honesty, it was so tame that I wondered if it was geared for middle schoolers. Oops

I had heard great things about this one and while I did read it quickly and find it entertaining I also feel it was pretty predictable and I didn’t find any of the characters lovable at all. I did however just finish book 2 and I will be ordering book 3 too because I must see how this full story ends.
I’ve always been sucked into books about infidelity. Daniel Hurst did us well. His book follows the wife of a doctor who has a secrets, including the fact that he was having an affair and trying to keep his wife out of it.
I loved how Daniel was able to show us both sides of the story, how the doctor felt like he was being careful, but he was falling in love with his mistress.
I was not expecting the ending at all. It sucked me in and made me keep reading. Daniel has a way of drawing you in with the crazy twists and turns he throws your way. And just when you think he blew your mind enough….the epilogue was INSANE!
I look forward to reading more of his books, this was my first try and I was not disappointed. I’m rating this book 4/5 only because it was a bit slow for me in the beginning but it definitely picked up!
I would definitely recommend this book to any psychological thriller fans!
