I’ve always been sucked into books about infidelity. Daniel Hurst did us well. His book follows the wife of a doctor who has a secrets, including the fact that he was having an affair and trying to keep his wife out of it.
I loved how Daniel was able to show us both sides of the story, how the doctor felt like he was being careful, but he was falling in love with his mistress.
I was not expecting the ending at all. It sucked me in and made me keep reading. Daniel has a way of drawing you in with the crazy twists and turns he throws your way. And just when you think he blew your mind enough….the epilogue was INSANE!
I look forward to reading more of his books, this was my first try and I was not disappointed. I’m rating this book 4/5 only because it was a bit slow for me in the beginning but it definitely picked up!
I would definitely recommend this book to any psychological thriller fans!

The Doctor’s Wife by Daniel Hurst is a fast paced, deliciously deceptive, psychological thriller. It was a quick read (um, I mean listen). What a fun escape. Read this if you don’t mind despicable main characters. Ones that you love to hate. The “Doctor” is so engrossed in his own obsession with his mistress that he moves his wife away from her beloved city life to a small coastal town to be closer to (you guessed it) his mistress! AND after she ended it with him! You might think, oh, his poor wife! Not so fast. The “Doctor’s Wife” has her own secrets. You might love her… a scorned woman taking fate into her own hands… or you might also hate her. Ok, maybe both at the same time? You decide. Either way, it was completely entertaining. Four stars for me.

Just because I can, I will start at the end of the book. That twist at the end...and the one in the epilogue was amazing! You thought it was done and then it wasn't. Really well thought out. I am becoming a huge Daniel Hurst fan. This book needed something to pull it through and that pretty much did it.
It started off pretty slow, meeting the married couple Fern and Dr Dew and trying to piece out why they would move from Manchester to a little town in the middle of nowhere. The storyline flows really well as the plot comes together. We root for Fern, although her character is a little bit unlikeable. The dual POV's gave all the answers you will seek.
A really good story that hits the mark!

I received an advanced copy of this book and it was one of my favorite ARC's so far this year.
I love a good domestic thriller but they tend to follow the same patterns. I loved that this story revealed so much in the beginning to let the reader in on what was happening, yet still provided a few twists. Fern was such a strong character, knowing her worth rather than blaming herself for her husband's infidelity, yet still slightly disturbed. Fern's scheming was so intoxicating and pulled the reader in with her. The story provides multiple POVs and traverses between the present and the past, to artfully lay out a great thriller.
I found the first and second twist to be slightly predictable, but it was still done in a way that made it interesting and I wanted to listen faster to hear how it turns out, while not wanting the story to end. The final twist was a good one that got me so hyped up.
Overall the structure of the story made this a standout in the domestic thriller category and I definitely recommend.

This is a book that will keep you guessing. The doctors wife knows more than everyone thinks she does. She knows his secrets and is determined to get even.
I’ll admit that I could not guess many of the twists in this book. I love that because I was surprised when they jumped up. I really enjoyed this book.
