I found this domestic thriller very interesting, as it was fast paced, and full of suspense and tension.

The story is about Drew and Fern, Alice and Rory. Drew is a doctor who is cheating on his wife Fern with Alice. Rory is Alice's husband. Fern knows about Drew being obsessed with Alice, but she has to pretend that she doesn't. It is all very complicated, with a lot of secrets and lies, action, drama and shocking behaviour.

I was kept engrossed throughout the book, as I was excited to see what would happen next. I especially liked how the book was set in the past and the present, and although the characters were not really likeable, I found them interesting. I liked the psychological aspects of the book, and noting how each character behaved.

The two audiobook narrators were really great at their job, and they portrayed the characters of Drew and Fern superbly.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves family dramas and psychological thrillers, and you won't be disappointed!

Many thanks to the author, narrators, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

ok, so as this was very honest about the happenings and guilty party, the end was still a shock and leaves me to be anxious to read the next in the series! Great writing!!

When the first scene of a book is the narrator describing the dead body of her husband, I am almost always guaranteed to be hooked. We know from the beginning who the body is, but we are left with questions - who committed this crime, and what is the motive? Who would want this charming member of the community dead?

Addictive, absorbing and gripping from the beginning, this murder mystery is full of deceit, secrets and lies. Told via the viewpoints of Fern and Drew over a dual timeline, the background of this couple is revealed as the book goes on.

The suspects, Fern, Alice and Rory, all have reasons for wanting Dr Drew dead, making this a classic who-done-it. The shocking conclusion is entertaining and could have gone either way!

Unfortunately, there are a few unrealistic scenarios within this storyline, the unethical behaviour of a particular character being one. (No spoilers here!) A couple of times, I found parts too far-fetched for my preferences.

However, overall this is a great read, and I am still a massive fan of Hurst. I will certainly be reading more of his work in the future.

The Doctor’s Wife’ is due for release on 31st January by Bookouture and is a highly recommended read! Pre-order today!

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for a gifted copy of this book.
