I haven’t read a nick Hornby book in ages and am just remembering he used to be my comfort author. We all know my favorite genre of character is sweet baby boy and Marcus absolutely does the trick

Funny and endearing, though the movie is much better.
It's the type of book you could read in a single sitting. So good.
What really makes this book so great is the dialogue, all of it. The inner dialogue of Will and Marcus and their actual exchange. Not only do you get to be a part of their individual growth but how they help each other be 'okay'.
This is my first book by Nick Hornby and it won't be my last. I am still chewing on these characters and I love that! Brilliant for sure!

I was unsure about this book going in, but it really grew on me. And as a consequence, I spent the last two hours finishing it instead of writing an essay...
i didn't expect much from About a Boy & i didn't get much: a quick, easy read, conquered in about 6 hrs, with characters who are just quirky enough to see through the end. Hornby is not a high-hopes, prize winner author, but he'll keep you entertained enough on airplanes or bus rides.
This took me a bit longer to read, but I blame life. Will is not very likable in the beginning, but he kind of grows on you. There are many great lines about relationships and how people fit into your life.
