I adore Daisy Goodnight and her magical family! Part teenage drama, part mystery, and all around witty fun. Hope to see more of Daisy in the future.

An excellent follow up to Texas Gothic! I devoured this book. I love the Goodnight clan and can't wait for more. There is a wealth of unexplored territory here and I hope, hope, hope there will be more fun for these women in the future.
A great, fun, exciting read that has murder, mayhem, and adventure galore, with a pinch of romance thrown in for good measure. And, of course, Daisy can talk to the dead! So that just adds to fun and confusion.
A great summer read!

“I was a guide to the lost souls and the patron sinner of the recently dead.”

I really liked this book. I thought that the mystery was interesting and unexpected. I liked Daisy a lot and thought that the paranormal aspect was really well thought out. However, it definitely read a lot like a ya book (which yes I understand it is). Way too many pop culture references. Also, we jumped through so many fucking hoops to make it work that she s 17. Like??? Just make her an adult? She’s in college, lives on her own, is a consultant for the fbi, has romantic ish interactions/relationships with much older guys. Like we have a whole joke about her being “jailbait”. It doesn’t make sense for her to be underage. Like just make her 18?? Or older college aged. Literally it would’ve removed so much useless explanation (like that she’s emancipated, her birthday is in 3 months, etc). Just make her an adult??? It can still by ya if she’s 18.

Enjoyable enough story let down by the ending. I like Daisy but didn't like Carson and much preferred Agent Taylor for Daisy. Given the age difference I would have been fine with Daisy & Taylor not ending up together but a hint of that in the future would have been better than her agreeing to date Carson after everything he did.

Enjoyed this story far more than Texas Gothic, but the characters here didn't have the same charm and humor that Texas Gothic had. The ending is just a bit over-the-top but the author made great use of several landmark institutions.
