I wanted to love this book. The title is brilliant and I hoped the lower rating was just haters. However, I had to force myself to finish. This is mostly a transcript of the authors psychiatry appointments and is not as insightful or interesting as I'd hoped.
slow-paced

Small but heavy book. At some points I was like girl get a grip!! But then I realised the author was trying to unlearn years of low self esteem and depression so that definitely can't be rushed through. I like that she admits to not being fully cured yet. The book doesn't end in a happy go lucky state but a more realistic note of life is a series of constantly improving ourselves

This book is seriously tiny, but also (imo) seriously boring (i mean i refused to pick it up and finish it for over a month) maybe it’s just not my preferred genre of novel but i feel as if the writing dragged and the conversations between the two characters (which makes up 90% of the book) were boring and often went in circles. it also felt as if the therapist was supremely unhelpful and the main character experienced no growth at all over the course of this book. i didn’t want her problems to be mystically and magically solved by the end of the book but a little progress over the course of months would be nice.

I do feel bad critiquing it as it is somebodies real life and memories, but i think this book would work better if there was research done interspersed by these conversations, i.e the conversations were written around the book rather than the other way around.

Overall this book was boring and didn’t leave me wanting to pick it up at all. also (not by any fault of this author) the book is seriously overpriced for the small amount of content in it. the writing is seriously huge.

Really connected with lots of the problems/ views in this book, even though pacing was slow, the transcript nature of the book made it easy to fly through. Just what I expected tbh, could've gone a bit deeper at some viewings for my liking but that's just how therapy processes work for some people

I can’t believe it took me two months to read this short book. The book wasn’t bad but by its nature of being therapy sessions and the author was just working on problems and attitudes she’s had he whole life that will take time to work through, the book didn’t really have any forward motion. I didn’t feel the need to pick it up and continue. It felt mostly like one consistent note. Towards the end the book changed from the therapy sessions to the authors reflections on life, especially after starting therapy and I’m not sure how I feel about the change. I don’t well if it’s that I just like the therapy sections better or maybe by the end of the book I was just ready for the book to be over. I  did like some of the  reflections and thoughts the author shared and what the therapist shared, and I found a good portion of the book relatable.
