I picked up this book because I recently took a pottery class and have also been dealing with some tough times so the synopsis spoke to me. I ended up loving this book. It got me out a huge slump. The author is so thoughtful and reflective about her characters. You learn about events in their lives in a reflective way without any trauma dumping or hopelessness. I love the ending and her prose is so beautiful even translated form Korean. I am so glad I found this book and I think it will become a new comfort read of mine!

💬 My Bookish Thoughts
One of the highlights of my year is watching The Great Pottery Throw Down with my husband, and I’ve always loved collecting ceramics, so the title grabbed me straight away.
This story of Jungmin coming out of hibernation after burnout and gently reshaping her life through the healing power of clay and community is an absolute joy — I loved every single page. It’s a warm, lingering hug of a book with a cast of gorgeous characters I’d love to call my own, and a community that you can’t help but envy and crave. Gisik and Johee completely stole my heart — you’ll see why when you read it 😙
Since starting my Bookstagram, I’ve been lucky to discover some amazing translated fiction, and this is up there with my favourites. I’m fast becoming a huge Korean fiction fan — I don’t want to tempt fate, but everything I’ve read so far has blown me away, and I’m hungry for more!
This one’s earned its spot in my "Comfort Reads" shelf in my Wellbeing Toolkit. I know I’ll return to it again in the future. If you’re looking for a book that feels like a lasting hug, I honestly can’t recommend this one enough.
🙏🏼 Huge thanks to @netgalley, @penguinukbooks @vikingbooksuk and Yeon Somin for the gifted digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
