An etiquette book with a twist! Some dirt on the behind the scenes fashion world and the making of Project Runway. Also who knew Martha Stewart was such a character with a dysfunctional family! Tim Gunn is undoubtedly the best character on Project Runway and is a genuinely nice and kind down to earth guy who made this smorgasbord of a book thoroughly entertaining.

It's a really fun read. I enjoyed all his anecdotes and as I read it I could almost hear his words in his voice.

Most random fact, his dad was the ghostwriter for J. Edgar Hoover

Tim writes a very interesting commentary about his experiences in life. The book is supposed to be based around a set of rules, however he seems to ramble a bit off the subject. Good, light read though, with some good advice and memorable quotes.

A great book that gives you advice and kicks you in the butt when you need it. It helped my self esteem, sense of humor, and perfectionism quite a bit.

Si antes adoraba a Tim Gunn, ahora que lei una pequeña parte de su vida, lo amo aún mas. Modelo a seguir, por lo menos en lo que a este libro respecta.

If you know who Tim Gunn is, then telling you that this book is like sitting down to a cup of coffee with Mr Gunn and listening to him talk will give you a very clear idea of what this book is about. In chapters loosely organized around various "rules", Gunn tells us about his life, dishes a bit about the excesses of the rich and famous (especially those who work for Conde Nast) and shares his approach to life, which can be summed up by take the high road, good manners never hurt anyone and, of course, make it work.

Gunn comes across as a man comfortable in his own skin, but having had to struggle to reach that. He reveals details about his own life that could fuel a pretty good misery memoir, but he's good-hearted and optimistic and doesn't dwell on any of it, but moves directly on to fun stories about the fashion industry or a bit of gently delivered advice. This was altogether an enjoyable and happy read.

This was a mostly enjoyable read. Tim Gunn has some fun and funny anecdotes about famous people. He also has some helpful advice. Occasionally, however, he veers into bad takes, like his attitude about unions at Parsons, and that took away some of the enjoyment for me.

This is not quite a book, more of a serious of light ramblings, held together by the loosest of threads. But it's Tim Gunn, who comes across as he does on Project Runway as the most genuine, warmhearted, kind, and truthful celebrity around. You can hear his voice come through as you read this.

A big fan of Project Runway and Tim Gunn, I find he is a real gentleman and was very excited to read his book. The little gems are things that were taught (or should have been taught to you) in elementary school but he presents them in such a refreshing lively way. I loved the flow of the book, it was as if I was speaking with Tim. Short read.

I downloaded this book to my iPad pretty randomly. I like Project Runway and have always thought Tim Gunn was hilarious and seemed like a really nice person. This book definitely proved that to me. This book sounds like him. It's funny and real and just so true! I wasn't sure what the book would be about, but it was mostly about manners - at least that's how I'd describe it. Of course there were also some great celebrity stories, so that always makes things interesting. I'd definitely recommend this book if you're looking for a fun read that actually has content too. I think this is a book I'd want my daughter to read someday. It makes manners sound fun! ;-)
