Pipe Dreams started out really strong but fizzled in the later half. The premise is so good, but the timing of the storyline always felt off. This series has been hit or miss for me, and I hope book 4 has me loving it again.

Spoiler I felt the entire baby storyline was bizarre. They hadn't been a couple in 2 years and then decided to have baby? No. I also disliked all the details of Becca and Nate's relationship. I've been dying for their book and now I feel cheated.

Awww this was such a sweet second chance romance plus single dad!
I honestly didn't like Lauren in the previous books but I was able to understand why she acted the way she did and by the end I liked her character a lot more.
And Mike?? Hello hot daddy hockey goalie!!

I'm rarely a fan of 2nd chance romance, as I always feel like the person making the mistake could have (and should have) reached out sooner to fix it...

The way beacon ended things with Lauren was incredibly harsh and he didn't consider her feelings at all. I'm glad he didn't pursue other women in the mean time, that made his apology and actually showing up for her much more real when he finally decided to go for her again.

I liked this book better than the first book in the series. We got a bit of the past between the main characters and thought the separation seemed realistic with everything the mmc had on his plate.

When they got back together everything happened very quickly. They did seem to work well together and the scenes with the daughter having reservations seemed natural. It was a good plot point for the mother to have left them letters to help them move on with their lives.

Listened on audio, narrators were good.

So I contemplated to stop reading this book around a quarter in because it was shaping up to become of those books where people would rather die than have a single meaningful conversation to clear the air.
But then I read a review about the complex storytelling and the nice female friendships and thought I give it a bit more time.
Spoiler But now our supposed love interest has somehow - without permission or invitation from the protagonist - accessed her suite and talked her into sleeping with him despite her insistence that he should leave.

I'm not reading romance with 'won't take no for an answer'-guy.
(This isn't the first time Bowen has written absolutely insufferable 'won't take no for an answer'-guys, but since she has also written decent men you never know what you're gonna get in a book.)

I like this series but knew from the blurb that this one probably wasn't for me since I don't like second chance romances. I skipped it initally, but after reading and loving #4, I decided to give it a shot. And guess what, I maybe should have listened to my first instinct!

The chemistry between Mike and Lauren sizzled, but Mike didn't grovel enough to make up for how he abandoned Lauren. I get the circumstances, but he really handled it in a terrible way. I spent the book mad at him, even when he was being perfectly charming. Lauren was great though. Oh well, not everything has to be for me.
