It was fun to take a jaunt to England through this story! It didn’t feel revolutionary & I imagine I’ll forget much of it, but I was intrigued to read about the life of academia & all things Oxford (and I want to watch the movie).

The friendships, however, felt a bit two-dimensional, the main character, Ella, often seemed to think that things revolved around her/her knowing something/her being kept in the loop about things that weren’t necessarily her business, etc. and her relationship with Jamie started so fast and was built on a house of sticks (to start with). Again, nothing new in this story, but not unenjoyable!

I enjoy the author as an audiobook narrator. The book was fine, but felt a bit spoiled by the similarity in plot at the end to From Scratch (a trip abroad, falling for a man who is ill). But besides this coincidence it was a good book.
