I started the audio but didn't love the narration. The speeds were off for me personally. I switched to the Kindle version and really enjoyed the story. Lots of emotions and smiles all put together! I just loved Abigail. If we could all end up with an Abigail in our life it would be even sweeter!
What a Touching Tale
This book was a tremendous read. Truly unforgettable. Emery and Oliver have stamped my heart with all things good and I loved their story.

The Mixtape is a very engaging story despite its flaws. Brittainy Cherry really has a feel for characters and what pulls on our heartstrings. The first of the novel was a bit slow pacing-wise, by about 1/4 in I was seriously hooked on the story itself. You can really tell where Cherry gets really passionate, for example, as she does when writing Emery's conversations with her parents. I just wish she had more of that.
man I wanted to fight everyone but this was a beautiful and an important story. Romance stories about musicians always feel kind of corny to me but I like when there's a plot to the story outside of "I make music, music is me" so we can see the way music is woven into their lives and helps heals them, rather than just being told it does.

this book was so much more than I thought it was gonna be in the best way possible. Read this as the book of the month for @ maya beatriz’s book club and thought it would be good, but what i wasn’t prepared for was the tears streaming down my face while reading it. the author did amazing writing about such heavy topics like depression, trauma, dysfunctional families, etc and in my personal opinion, did Oliver’s and Emery’s stories justice. honestly one of the best contemporary books i’ve ever read!
100% recommend this book, but make sure to check out the trigger warnings beforehand!

Plot or Character Driven:
Character
This was a quick read for me, I felt it read like a fanfic of sorts. It did feel like it was lacking a bit more depth in the characters. I know they each had their own problems occurring I just felt like something was missing.
Absolutely loved this book. I laughed, cried and got goosebumps all over. It pulled at my heart in ways I didn't know it would. Will definitely read again! I wish a few things had been explained better or had seen what had happened with a certain someone (cam) but that's ok. I'll just imagine it lol
" Every person in this world has a mixtape of sorts, a collection of tracks that defines their lives. Each memory is a song, and they all come together to create a masterpiece."
I absolutely loved this! There were so many issues covered here; death, depression, religion, rape, suicidal thoughts, forgiveness. love - it had it all. The music aspect was a cherry on top. I loved how the characters connected memories and emotions to a song.
“When it rains, it pours, but the rain always stops, and the sun comes out again.”
I honestly can't even articulate a thought well enough to sum this up. Just read it. I promise - you won't regret it. Your heart will ache and you may cry - but it's worth it.
“Ask me to be yours, and I’ll be yours. If you let me stay, I’ll stay forever.”

This was such a wonderful read. I love the hope felt through grief and the character development. It was so easy to get wrapped up in the story and I couldn't put this book down!
