I almost didn't read this
After reading some less than stellar reviews I almost didn't download this. Reviews that complained about too much cursing and how they couldn't finish the story because of it. To those ppl I will say you missed out on a great book.
A story of loss, love and finding yourself. The mixtape metaphor is one that I want to apply to my own life.
And to those that complained about language I thought it read as real. Ppl curse in frustrating situations. It didn't seem excessive or out of place.

I felt grief, fear, anger, and most importantly, joy, while reading The Mixtape. This is so much more than a romance novel. I’ve been sitting here for ten minutes trying to pick my heart up from off of the floor.
So I’m an idiot,
I picked this book up after skimming through the blurb thinking this would be a nice light hearted listen (on KU) while I work.
Well let me tell you I SOBBED through this beautiful book.
I think this story handles the theme of grief (and it’s many forms) in such a beautiful way. I felt so strongly for our two main characters and wanted to help their broken souls so much.
Alex’s journey from learning to live with the death of his brother and finding as to somehow move past the tragedy and also find out what his value to life is was so lovely to see, I was so very worried about this guy.
With Emery, she had my heart racing at certain point when I was TERRIFIED that her horrible family would ruin her life as we know it. Her strength shines through the pages and I love her!

Amazing
This was a great story.
I love Oliver and Emery, but Reese definitely stole. The show!
There were several reviews that mentioned the colorful language, but I definitely didn’t feel like it was too much or out of place.

Algo que valoro mucho es cuando los autores realmente se preocupan por contar una historia y Brittany lo hace. Aquí hay mucho más que romance. Estoy muy orgullosa del camino que recorrieron todos los personajes. <3 ✨
Easy and quick read. The story was ok - better than average - but what really stands out are all the great lines and paragraphs in this book. I highlighted so many things.
