I was going to make a Jane Austen reference. But that's a lot of work.
If all funny books written by comedians were ranked by now much they made you want to go into stand-up, Roberson's book would be at the top. Catch me next week at open mics throughout Oklahoma attempting to make jokes about this very topic. To the straight white cisgendered men who've asked me to do emotional labor for them these past 23 years, I'll consider us even (or at least give you a 10% off coupon) if you buy and actually read this book. There will be a test.

Got bored and irritated after the first 50 pages. Maybe if I was tipsy on margaritas by a beach I’d be entertained by the ramblings, rom-com references, and obnoxious writing style.
The title is deceiving. I expected this to be a book about feminism, lighthearted but still diving somewhat deep into dating culture, misogyny, privilege, etc. The writer drops a lot of big words, sounding very progressive, left leaning, critical, but she never actually goes into it.
As someone who is somewhat well versed in feminist theory, this book was really basic. It is at most a diary of a girl who has a lot of crushes and is justifying her (lack of) romantic life. I

I really wanted to like this book more than I did but I frankly found it a bit shallow and boring.
I don’t even know what I think about this book. On one hand, any kind of love and dating advice from someone young enough to love One Direction is ummm weird. I definitely felt old reading this. But on the other hand there were some really fantastic points and sections.
Much more memoir than a feminist exploration of dating. I expected more analysis and discussion of patriarchy and oppression but while it was included, it wasn’t the main thrust of the book. As well, a lot of humour that, being the killjoy / humour hater that I am, I just didn’t find funny. It wasn’t terrible but I only actually laughed once while reading.
Again, I’m probably too old to be considered the main audience for this. But the parts that were good, were pure, solid gold.

Incendiary title, not a how to, but highly recommended for women but most definitely men.
I received an ARC of this book from a Goodreads giveaway.
First, let me say that this book is not about hating men. It chronicles the authors experiences dating while giving commentary on societal expectations placed on men and women. I found myself laughing out loud for a good chunk of the book, and some of the passages sound just like conversations I’ve had myself with my friends. It’s a little unorganized at times, but overall it was an enjoyable read. I think what I liked most was her love for Harry Styles that seems to rival my own.

Blythe Roberson is a HERO. She says all the things that I have bottled up inside me all the time but if I said them I would scream them angrily and be called a radical bitch and lose all the men I know in my life so I attempt to spit them out softened or semi-sarcastically - but she actually does a great job of delivering the same scathing criticism of the Patriarchy via COMEDY. I love her.
This book is super rambly, it's basically a standup routine in a book. And I enjoyed every sentence of it. No super insights here (like I said, I'm already super angry and critical all the time, if you're not, I bet it is FULL of insights!!!) but lots of relief and relatability. I so wish I could deliver the same punches in my day to day conversation with the tools of the patriarchy I interact with on a regular basis. Better yet, I wish they'd read this - I'm sure her methods are much more effective. IS SHE ON TOUR? I want to go see her and bring all the dudes.
LOVED THE ENDING - where she's still single cause, yeah, that's real. Brilliant, worth the read, will give you laughs on the shit that gives you anxiety.

This book is very similar to most of the men I’ve gone on dates with. Looks great on the outside with glimmers of hope and good thoughts here and there, but ultimately I’m walking away disappointed and unsatisfied.
