A well-plotted and emotional conclusion to a gripping series. Actually, thinking back on the series, this was probably not the best plotted but it's hard enough for authors to stick the landing in a standalone novel and so much harder to do so at the end of a long series. Nicci French strikes the right tone as the horrific relationship between the unique Frieda Klein and the clever but evil Dean Reeve finally comes to a close.

A fine fitting end to the (almost perfect) Frieda Klein series. Beth Chalmers does such a fine job narrating all the Frieda Klein books.
The whole Lola storyline was completely ridiculous. This bubbling mess of a young adult would never be accepted to study criminology. The utterly ridiculous coincidences of her meeting the bad guy and Frida accidentally and what follows were so laughable I had almost decided to quit the book. At every step the pouty Lola acts like a tween not a young woman.
When the boogie man is finally done with, by his own hand, one wonders how exhausted he must have been, being dragged through this whole series.
If there is another book in this series, I shan’t be reading it.

This is the final book in the Frieda Klein series. It is a very worthy finale and I enjoyed every word of this brilliantly constructed book. The plot was interesting and there were enough twists and turns to make me dizzy and the conclusion was satisfying.
I am bereft now that I've finished this wonderful series. I can't believe I wasn't sure whether to carry on with the series after listening to the first book. I didn't really like Frieda, but I'm so glad I persevered and Frieda gradually won me round. Such a great well drawn, totally realistic character.character. I'll miss the others too - Josef, Karlsson, Yvette, Olivia, Chloe, Reuben and Jack.

Excellent narration throughout the whole series by Beth Chalmers

This is Frieda Klein novel 8 and last, hurray..
You must read the books in order, they make no sense otherwise.
Slogged my way through this one. The final cat and mouse game between Frieda Klein and Dean Reeve wasn't nearly as thrilling as I wanted it to be. Lots about hidden rivers. Lola was a stupid little girl.

Waaahhh! I read this book and now I am so sad that it’s the end of the Frieda Klein series. I may read them all again. This book was very good and it was a great ending. I think Frieda is one of the most interesting characters I have come across in all my years of reading.
I have to say, I was nervous about this book, the last in the series, because I wasn't sure I wanted it to end, or was wary how it would end. I won't summarize the plot, because it is difficult without revealing anything that would spoil the story, and I want other readers to experience the same rapt tension I did. A gripping thriller and a satisfying ending to a series I have enjoyed. I'm already looking forward to see what Nicci French comes up with next!

Great final installment to a wonderful series. I have really loved this series, especially Frieda Klein. She is both sympathetic and unsympathetic. She is flawed but makes no excuses for her flaws. I will miss her and all the other characters in this series. I am also thankful that the authors (spoiler alert)
The authors did not sacrifice characters to close out storylines, as happens in so many series nowadays.
