I have so many opinions on this book that I had to Google some answers to which spoiled some of the other books in the series for me. That I don't mind.
Jaxon, for some reason, gave me Draco Malfoy vibes if he were a vampire. I also didn't like Lia she was not my fave at all. I'm also not sure what to expect from the next book.

Pretty slow and the insta love was not it. I did like the concept though!

This book took me a while to get into, but i loved it, and am excited to read the next one! I haven’t read twilight, but I would say it’s like a mix of twilight & Harry Potter? Loved the romance and the drama!

It took me forever to read this book. There were some good parts but most of it couldn't keep me hooked. Only reason I finished it is because I made myself finish it to see if it would be good like everyone told me it was.

Uhhhhhh isn’t this just Twilight with a sprinkle of half a dozen other YA fantasy books?

I just couldn’t do it. I only got a few chapters in but I really don’t like the use of “trendy” teen slang in books because it’s always outdated by the time the book gets published.
Also it’s very much a Twilight redone kind of book, and I don’t like when books are inspired by other books and then referenced by the characters in said book. I find that really irritating and distracting from the story.
I was really interested the setting of the story, but I just don’t like any of the characters. I don’t like the trope of the main character meeting the love interest who is just straight up rude to her in for most of their first interaction and within the first 5 minutes of them meeting she’s madly in love with him.
This book would be great for fans of Fallen by Lauren Kate, and I think some readers would totally love it, it’s just not for me.

TL;DR:
I didn’t like the characters and the pacing of the romance.
Read this if you like Twilight and Fallen.

I really enjoyed this book and told myself from the beginning that I was not going to compare it to Twilight or the Harry Potter series because that would just leave me with a whole lot of disappointment and comparisons. I get there very similar but you have to separate them and just learn to enjoy it.

I did notice the numerous name drops and references to Twilight and Hogwarts. I did think it was corny when the main character Grace mentioned watching that Netflix show called Legacies that has a bunch of prep school kids who are vampires, werewolves, and witches living together. That was just corny and unnecessary. The author definitely should have left all of that out, lol.

While the reader is reading this book you know something is going Grace is also catching on that these students are odd and not your typical classmates. I’m very curious of where all of the teachers and professors are. A teacher wasn’t mentioned until page 233. I find it odd no teacher has been brought up until now. Very unrealistic for her being there for almost three days before a teacher pops up. I think someone would have told her to go back to her room past curfew. Really unrealistic in my opinion. And the lack of students parents being mentioned is unrealistic.

I do however love how the chapters are short and sweet and always leave you on some sort of cliffhanger making you read ten chapters before you know it! The author has a way with words and causing your heart to spike wondering what’s going to happen next.

The mention of Grace realizing that now she knows why an animal caught in a trap is willing to gnaw off its own leg really struck me. It’s crazy the things you are willing to do for not only love but if your life depends on it.

Kudos to the author for including Jaxon’s point of view of how he was feeling and his thoughts during his and Grace’s first encounters at the end of the book. I was wondering what was going through his mind because he’s so hard to read and seems possessive like a narcissist so it was interesting to be in his head.
