The first half of this book was hard to get through but I really enjoyed the second half
I went in, armed with the knowledge that it was going to resemble Twilight based on what I read about it. The similarities are definitely there. Scenarios that were Twilight-esque. It was like Twilight but masked with a gothic environment, schooled for the paranormal; dragons, witches, werewolves, and vampires. The overall story was focused on Grace and Jaxon's romance with the plot alluding and scheming in the background. Grace's patience and support in her relationship with Jaxon were so healthy that I couldn't believe I was reading it. My only wish was that it didn't all happen in just a week and a half. It was completely rushed. And it wasn't great reading it. I may seek out slow-burn romances after the whiplash I got from this.
Yet, my genuine want for them to spend time together was what propelled me to read forward. I enjoyed their growing bond and their lame funny jokes. Seeing them discover each other was gratifying. But the best time they spent together? When they waltzed in the sky with the Aurora Borealis. I think that was my favorite part of the story. Definitely a scene I'll reminisce over when I'm reminded of this book.
Would I recommend this? Not entirely sure. If one doesn't mind fast-burn romances I guess. And if you want the story to skim/procrastinate the actual workings of the paranormal stuff(How things work and the magic system). Which is something I didn't like very much.

I’m not a big fan of spicy romance and the only time I felt Jaxon was sweet was when he got her waffles. Then it made me cringe every time Grace encountered Jaxon so after like a couple of chapters I really just couldn’t take it from there.

I give this a solid 3.85 - 4 stars.
Don't get me wrong there was definite similarities to twilight but honestly, I really liked this book. I cant wait to read the rest of the series and find out what's to come of Grace and Jaxon.
Also, please tell me there's more of Macy. I loved her and she just kind of dwindled out.
