I was completely obsessed with this book - it gave me Twilight vibes, but edgier, funnier, and (IMO) more addictive. I loved everything about it and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who wants paranormal romance, boarding school drama, and swoons danger all in one. I loved the Katmere Academy setting - slowly, gothic, full of secrets…total dark academia magic. The suspense and supernatural reveals kept me flying through the pages. Jaxon Vega- broody and mysterious, loved him in this first book! Grace seems like such an airhead but I gotta remember from her pov she’s stepping into a whole new world - not sitting on the couch reading a paranormal romance ready for all the supernatural creatures

I had heard mixed reviews about Crave but decided to give it a go anyhow and I am so glad that it did! There are definitely some parallels with other vampire fiction, but still unique in its own right. I really enjoyed the mixture of supernatural species and I felt like something was always happening that had it difficult not to read another chapter. I would’ve loved for more of a multi-POV experience - one single chapter from the MMC was definitely NOT enough. The special thing about supernatural/fantasy stories is that you just never know what’s going to happen because magic can accomplish anything! There’s romance by way of connection and support but don’t pick up Crave if you’re looking for an explicit romance - they are still in high school, after all. If you’re in need of a delightful YA experience with twists and turns and betrayals, look no further!

4.5 maybe a 5 ⭐️ I don’t know. My brain is confused honestly...
Well. It started out ok. But I really needed her to be her own person and not be so clingy and desperate.
The storyline is ok - I like the premise with a school of supernatural beings but I felt it the story lacked something crucial. Something series should have in the first book, to keep one entertained. I found Grace pathetic and annoying. She was too much of a damsel-in-distress, where she needed someone to come save her all the time.
So. Eh.

Objectively, this book is probably not for everyone, but it was for me and I really enjoyed it!
I hesitated picking this book for a while because I feared it would be a Twilight wannabe. And no matter the shade Twilight gets, I loved it when I was younger and I didn’t want a simple rehash of that story.
And I have to say, Crave is not at all like Twilight (except maybe the cover). I guess they are some elements that could be put side by side, but I think Tracy Wolff uses YA tropes in general, rather than Twilight tropes, if that makes sense.
Also, I am a mood reader and Crave was just what I need when I need it.
That being said, I recognize that this book is flawed (mainly the insta love part for me and the fact that this story in the NA genre would have been perfect), yet it doesn’t change the fact that I enjoyed every second of this book and I definitely will continue on with this series.
Plus, I have a feeling Crave is the type of series that gets even better with every book, so I am really exited to read the next book (especially with that revelation at the end!).

Okay, so I’m definitely in and ready to read the rest of the series. There are many things I love, but two major things I didn’t like. But still four stars because it kept my attention throughout.
Reasons to love it: romance, fantasy, vampires, school drama, cool classes
Reasons to hate it: Why was there no tension? Jaxon and Grace basically got together when the book started. Where is the angst?! ALSO what even is a gargoyle? Why is the end our first time even hearing of one?
Questions for the future: How the actual frick is Hudson alive? Is Leah actually dead? What is a gargoyle? Do they have powers? How did Grace’s parents actually die? Why haven’t there been gargoyles in thousands of years? How is it that Grace can even be one? What exactly does having a mate mean in this series?
