My first Lincoln Rhyme story, and it's not bad; however, another multimillionaire star of the show. Who knows...maybe there's some plausible back story to his wealth and his Manhattan townhouse. this is the 13th in the series, so I don't know.

My personal review ratings are based upon the following: 1 Star, “I did not like it and wasted my time or couldn’t finish it”; 2 Stars, “I think it is just Ok, but I’ll never think about it again”; 3 Stars, “I think it is an entertaining , enjoyable book, and I’ll think about it again”; 4 Stars, “I really love this book, and I may read it again”; and 5 Stars, “I think this book is excellent, I will read it again, and it will stand the test of time.”

Fast paced with unexpected turns and subplots. Refreshing that the majority of victims didn't die.

Lincoln Rhyme and has crew are a team for the ages. 13 books in and Deaver shows no signs on letting this team go. We can all breathe a sigh of relief as this team just keeps getting better and better.
The Burial Hour not only introduces us to new characters but to new locations with this book set mostly on the coast of Italy. With new characters, we get new dynamics and as always, there is a stake to claim in the turf wars - between police, attorneys and a trio of Americans who manage to ingratiate themselves into the investigation whether their help is wanted or needed.
Our killer is convincing and thwarted by Sachs just makes him more determined. The hunter becomes the hunted.
Sidebar - there is a second story running throughout this book. Of a young American in trouble with the police and needing the help that only Rhyme can give. As you read, you think why? How is this story relevant? As you get to the thrilling and unforseen conclusion, you will find that as with all forensic evidence, nothing is insignificant. Every piece of the puzzle has a story to tell and prepare for it all to blow your mind.

I enjoyed this novel, especially for the Italian settings, since my wife and I travelled to many of those places in 2014 and later in 2019. I look forward to reading #14 next, to catch up in the series.

Deixei o livro a meio.

A patronising account of how only Americans can solve the problems of the world

I was excited when I Iearned about this new Deaver offering. But I have to say I was disappointed when I finished the book. Not the typical page-turning suspense you might be accustomed to coming from this author. The story was just ok.

One of Jeffery Deaver's best novels to date, full of plot twists and story arcs that are extremely relevant and current. Thoroughly entertaining and compelling reading - I'm a huge fan, one of few consistently excellent and exciting authors I look forward to reading.

I've read all of the Lincoln Rhyme books and this one really disappointed me. Deaver is obviously trying to open up new lines for future stories and spin offs but it feels like he tried too hard and, instead of a psychological thriller he's trying to turn Lincoln into James Bond, which isnt what I read these books for. After about 15 years I don't think I'll be reading any more of these
