i love how consistent these volumes have been so far! in this volume, we are introduced to jimmy’s rival who in the beginning seems like great competition for jimmy in a classic locked room murder mystery but in the end is easily one-upped by jimmy himself. jimmy coming back for like 10 minutes was so worth it and it made me happy but also annoyed because in my opinion the entire series would have been so much better with jimmy not turning into a kid. the reveal of the murderer was a great surprise because i couldn’t get it right and i loved that. the execution of the murder was a very questionable theory though it was so unbelievable lmao.

i also really liked the second mystery even though i normally don’t like it when the murderer is revealed at the very beginning. the second mystery involved a crazed librarian and it was so fun seeing the kids outwit the librarian in the end.

the third mystery frustrated me as usual because it ended on a cliffhanger so now i have no choice but to start the next volume asap because the mystery and the setting are intriguing. we have a ski trip and the family end up staying overnight in their neighbor’s lodge after being locked out. unfortunately a murder most foul happens as usual and it’s up to jimmy/conan to help rachel’s dad figure out whodunit.

time to go find out!

Noooo!!! Hattori Heiji (one of my favorite characters in this series) is finally introduced, and they changed even his name (to a stupid one, too)! Oh, well, the Amaericanized names don't affect my enjoyment of the series very much. Though I do have to wonder why they bothered to change any of the names, in the first place. Not all are changed, just those of main characters, and the art is still left to right, rather than flipped to be more American.

How come I don't remember the great detective of the west? He looks so cool. I love him.

The issue where he faces off with Conan was so good. I want more of that.
