So many beautiful stories. I particularly enjoyed "jiibay or aandizooke," "it takes an ocean not to break," "caged," and "gezhizhwazh."

I’m such a fan of this author. The stories are so vivid and yet sometimes feel hazy like a dream you just woke from that left you with a lot of feelings but fuzzy on wtf happened.
I highly recommend the audiobook of this; the stories and voice of both the author and reader are so wonderful to listen to. I kept bookmarking passages and lines to include in this review but eventually had to give up. There are too many. Just read it or listen to it.
This is a beautiful collection of poetry and short stories by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson. I am still on a quest of reading everything she’s ever written and this was part of that journey! I especially loved the story about the lift locks in Peterborough. Very quick and beautiful read!
