Could’ve been a 5 star but I just didn’t connect emotionally with the characters as much as I would like. Great writing though, loved it!!

Was it smut? Yes. Did I love it? Also yes.

Falta profundidade às personagens. É tudo muito depressa "resolvido"

This was good and I did enjoy it but I didn’t love it.
It is very much a dark little mermaid retelling and meets the criteria for that but as the author message stated it isn’t DARK dark so if you’re expecting that this isn’t the book for you.

I liked the found family aspect of the crew and the character development that Maren went through throughout the book. Ramsey was fine, I didn’t hate or love his character, he was just there.

I found the plot and pacing to be slower than what I wanted. Sometimes it felt like pages of nothing happening that was relevant to moving the story forward.

Thank you to Metal Blonde Books and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.

While this book is marketed as a reimagining of The Little Mermaid, I’d say it reads more like a mashup between that classic and Pirates of the Caribbean—and honestly, that combo is exactly what made it such a fun ride. As someone who adores both stories in their original forms, I was totally captivated by how the author wove those worlds together into something fresh and exciting.

This book brings it all: a vivid magical system, fantastical sea creatures, mermaids and sirens, and characters who blur the line between hero and villain. The plot strikes a perfect balance between adventure and emotional depth, with an epic romance that’s tangled up in shadows, danger, and heartache. It’s a dark, dreamy escape that had me hooked from the start.

A dark retelling of what happened after The Little Mermaid got her legs. I really enjoyed this! Think Little Mermaid crossed with Pirates of the Caribbean. I loved all the action and the relationship between Maren and Ramsay. 4 stars!
