Seemed like a great idea, but none of the recipes grabbed me. I tried Pasta Della California this week (whole wheat linguini with broccoli, garlic, lime, arugula and avocado) and I thought it was pretty good but the rest of the family didn't love it.
I bought this book to get some ideas for vegan cooking that wasn't my traditional bean/lentil stew dish. It is a very creative cookbook with a load of different recipes that can be used for daily dining or special occasions. I like that it relies on real ingredients rather than providing recipes with a laundry list of cheese, egg, dairy, etc. substitutes. I wish there was a few more pictures because I am one of those recipe followers that like to see what the finished product is "supposed" to look like.
While the recipes are very good, I will have to say that I'm disappointed that it didn't have the style or simplicity of her earlier book: Vegan with a Vengence.
A great comprehensive vegan cookbook that has something for everyone. I have made quite a few of recipes, but everytime I flip through it I see something new, yummy and interesting that I want to try. It has some great tips and recipes for beginners as well as some fancy shmancy recipes to make for a dinner party. I liked "Vegan with a Vengeance" but I think they really stepped it up with this one. A definite must-own for your vegan cookbook library.
although not vegan or vegetarian, leith took the leap toward vegetarianism and i've been picking up some veggie cookbooks every now and then to spice it up. this one takes a cheeky, useful approach that i appreciate.
what i don't appreciate - about 20 ingredients in some of the recipes. either way, i have a few gems that i pulled outta here, so we'll see how they translate into the kitchen. the first experiment with wheat gluten (black bean burgers) wasn't that successful, but i'm still hopeful for some of the others.

Several good recipes, but hard to find ingredients needed for most (at least in México City). Has very few pictures for a cookbook.
A comprehensive vegan cookbook. I'll have to try some recipes before being sure of my rating. I'm not a fan of the emphasis on tofu and traditional wheat flours, but perhaps it will be worth it.
Most recipes work out very well. Unfortunately, the table of contents often list incorrect page numbers and recipe headings are found over the wrong recipe. Recommended if you're happy to play detective!
Not as exhaustive as it claims to be (how can it explain cooking different types of vegetables but not give any general guidance for tofu and other more unusual meat replacements?) but some very good recipes all the same - the samosa stuffed baked potatoes were especially delicious!
