Xie Lian is the protagonist of all time. “To me, the one basking in infinite glory is you; the one fallen from grace is also you. What matters is you, and not the state of you.” ♥️
Took me forever to read bc of life (work, school etc) but this was so good I think my dry eyes and migraines from no sleep and staring at the screen intensely for days was worth it. Love the anime too and can't wait for the live adaptation
Hua Cheng and Xie Lian are two characters that will probably stick with me forever. Their individual personalities are developed so well that I loved them both as separate characters and when they’re together as a couple (which is pretty rare for me). I’m so glad I took the time to read this amazing novel. The story-telling in phenomenal and you’ll absolutely fall in love with the characters.
Do you ever start a book, realize very early that it's a new favourite and then enjoy every single page even more? And it goes on and on and doesn't stop? This was me with TGCF
My heart hurts. I can’t believe I finished it all and done so quickly. I laughed, cried, mourned, and rejoiced while reading this series. The story and the characters made me feel like a part of them and was with them on their journey of various battles, arguments, and rendezvouses.
I wish there was more to read and see these characters grow and be happy, but the ending was indeed a happy one for the main two characters.
I really recommend many people to read this series and fall in love with it as much as I did. 244 chapters may seem intimidating, but it did not feel long at all since the story did not once made me feel bored.

This has got to be one of my favorite couples in any book I've ever read. I love both of them so much, it's ridiculous. Hook, line, and sinker.
This author is just ridiculous....I swear.
I'm still in shock.

I'm literally so deeply in love with the two main characters. They invented love. They did.
I just don't know how to put into words what I'm feeling. This is my first Chinese novel of this genre. It was a completely new experience and it was fascinating to see all these new tropes and established rules of this world that are super clear to readers of this genre. I learned so many new things in a way. It had good sides but also some that kind of lost me, the whole final fight that felt like tokusatsu scene for example.
But what can beat a love story that spans over 800 years, love that is so selfless and accepts every single part about each other. Xie Lian is such a delight and such an unreliable narrator. San Lang is just so dreamy. How come I don't get to have my own demon king that waits for me for 800 years or a scrap collector god that can't believe someone would know everything about his past sins and still love him. Real life is truly unfair.

The kind of book that I keep at bedside and reread perpetually. I would inject this story into my body if I could. Or maybe I wouldn't need to, because I already carry a piece of it within me wherever I go.
