Loved this! Kinda slow start, but it really picked up after that. I could not put this down. Incredible characters. Super romantic. A lot of plot twists. There is a lot of violence and angst though, and I don't think people under 17 should read this for that reason. It's a heavy read. If you are wanting to read this because you read the previous mxtx novels, there are no sex scenes.

the story of a god and his last believer, a story of love, friendship, struggles, wins, losses. i can't believe it took me so long to want to read this, but i'm so so so so glad this moment came. i'm bursting with happiness, just thinking about xie lian and hua cheng, about how much these two characters love each other, about how loyal they are to each other, and about how genuinely great they are, even when they're apart - of course, they're a set, you don't SEPARATE them, but each scene with each one of them is just so awesome. not only them, too. every character here has a meaning, a goal, a reason for you to root for them, for you to want them to exist in the world you're reading.

blown away in each and every aspect.... still questioning how i feel (MOSTLY POSITIVE THINGS) but this was surely a journey i'll never forget. it's worth the read if one's up for it. i think this really encapsulates why writing, reading, can be such and intense and meaningful act to so many of us.
