While I enjoyed Aladdin (the movie), I honestly adored the dark twists that this book brought! It included Jafar maintaining his grasp of the lamp (instead of being stolen by Abu before the jaw of the sand lion closed).
Yes, some scenes were very similar to the scenes in the film. But the unique moments transformed the story entirely, and it was extremely enjoyable.

This book had no right to be as good as it was. This was the best Disney adventure I've heard in a loooong time! If only they were still producing stuff as good as this book, they might not be such a failing company.
