I had such high expectations for this book, I was ready for a book about rebellion, over-throwing a mad ruler, and reclaiming the throne and that is not what I got. This book could have been so much more and it was such a let down that it wasn't. After meeting Alladin, at least the first quarter of the book is nearly word-for-word the movie up until the cave of wonders. All the new characters were underused with lots of tell rather than show. The whole resistance aspect that I was most excited about was extremely underwhelming and rushed. I feel like the whole regime change, from the sultan to Jafar to jasmine, all happens in just a few weeks. More time should have been spent under the tyranny of Jafar, showing the people becoming desperate, building the rebellion, and showing the consequences of that resistance. It would have been so much better to have started under Jafar's rule with just a prologue or flashbacks to set it up so more time could be spent on the actual rebellion. I was so excited about this book, it sounded so good, that I almost bought it rather than waiting for my library to get it. Glad I didn't.

A really good twisted tale. I had a lot of fun reading it and would definitely recommend. It went in directions I didn’t see coming and some that I did but were enjoyable to read all the same. If you like Aladdin you’ll like this.

J'ai bien aimé l'histoire en général.
C'est plus mature que ce que je pensais que ça allait être, mais ça ne m'a pas vraiment déplu pour autant.
Je n'ai pas autant apprécié la fin par contre, ce qui est dommage :/

I loved this "Twisted" version of Aladdin!! It brought back a lot of memories from growing up and I loved reading a different take on what could have happened!
