I read this one two years ago and I fell in absolute love with it. It was the very first that I read that left me with a huge book hangover. That ending, wow. I was in awe of this one and it just head me at a loss. I loved it! I couldn't wait for the next one, the down side to that was the author was working on it slowly. I'm a huge book lover so I was okay with that. I have thousands of books that I would like to read so filling that time was not going to be an issue. In reality, most books that are a part of a series the books come out one a year. I looked and saw that it originally came out in 2011 so I'm sure that many who read it when it came out was getting frustrated because here in year 2013 and there was still no book 2. I can completely understand that frustration. I looked online and found out the author had just had a second baby. Anyone who has had a child understands how demanding a newborn infant is forget the fact that she had another that is still a toddler. I looked back and realized that I never left a review on this one. I got an email and was told that if I was interested the Author wanted to send me a copy of the new revised version of this one as well as the second in the series. How could I pass that up. This was a book that stuck with me for so long.
I jumped right in to re-read this book and I remember the main idea of the book, but I realized that I forgot a lot of the little details. I looked forward to reading it again. I had read that there was a little extra added but that if you purchased the first edition you don't have to purchase the second, you won't feel lost thinking that you missed something huge in the first book. I fell in love with this story all over again. I have so many books that I want to read that I usually don't go back and re-read but I need to add this to my home library, because I will read them again at some point also I lend out books to friends and family when I feel like people need to read a great story.
To be honest I wasn't all that sure if I was going to like the book I hadn't read many that were like this one. I started it and it didn't take long for me to get pulled into it. I was curious as to what the deal with Emily was, a girl who comes from money, living on her own in college in a not so great area?? Something is off with that. I wanted to know more. Then she witnesses something, something that will change her life completely.
She learns things about her brother she never knew, things that may change the way some people see their family. She wants to hate what is going on, she wants to run and get away from her kidnappers but there is more to the story. There is much more than she ever realized. She is in the middle of an underworld that she never had any part in and she doesn't know what to do. She starts to have feelings toward the guy who took her but she wants her old life back. A life where she was oblivious to all this that is going on around her.
There are more people involved in this book than just "the boss" I personally was instantly drawn to Rocco "the kid" and Griff. They over all I thought important people to Em. They gave her some sort of reality and grounded her in the crazy world she was thrown into. She felt a connection to both of them. I could feel it as I read it also. I loved Rocco he was such a sweet kid.
I loved the go go go of this book. I will say that I had wanted a little more romance in the story, but I think it went well the way it was. There is a lot of action, a lot of angst and that ending!? Wow, what a cliffhanger!
If you are looking for something that has you on edge, guessing what is to come next this is a good one. SO excited for the second in the series! :) To finally get a fix and some type of conclusion to this story.

I can't wait for the sequel, though it wasn't really perfect, I really enjoyed reading it (It reminds me of Dengeki Daisy so much!!!)
dark
medium-paced
Loved the book. I just wish the author would have included more of a background story of the relationship between Emily and Cameron. Their relationship went Dom 0-60 in 5 seconds
Holy Shit!
That's about all I can say because I'm dumbstruck with...happiness? no...that ending was too disappointing.
Okay, I guess I'm just dumbstruck. LOL
Loved the story. It was dark and twisty like an old abandoned back road at midnight. I was anxious to continue but there was just no turning back. I was just so confused and conflicted.
Should I or shouldn't I be falling for Cameron?
Despite the horrible bad boy things he's done/does, I fell for him.
He's a good person, really, he just does bad things.
(No worries...he's not like Christian Grey bad.)
I so want a sequel. Does Emmy get revenge on all of them? Does she uncover the lie? I want to know!!!!

wow! What a book. Took a couple of chapters to get into but was so worth it in the end. Definitely a must read
Well, I guess congratulations is in order. This book just took the spot as the worst book I’ve ever read. I never thought the last book would get beaten, but it’s always fun with surprises.
The main characters, Emily, is the most brainless character ever. She can’t jump over a puddle, she can’t close a car door and it takes her several minutes to figure out how to turn on an iPod. A device with one button. And this chick should look like a dried prune by now, she cries every other page. And when she isn’t crying, she is puking.
And she completely forgot that she is, in fact, kidnapped. She never tries to fight or get free, when she thinks they are going to kill her, she obediently just gets in the car.
And when she gets to the farm, she just immediately accept that this is her new home. When people try to help her escape, because the kidnappers are dangerous, she tells them that they are ridiculous and she isn’t going anywhere. This is now where she belongs and they are her family. What??? This isn’t even Stockholm syndrome, she was already obsessed with Cameron before they got there. And suddenly they love each other, even though they have barley talked? And she goes around stating that nobody tells her what to do and gets insulted that Cameron invaded her personal privacy by listening to her messages. She forgot the fact that he does in fact control her and has violated bigger things than her privacy, like her human rights. YOU ARE KIDNAPPED, ACT LIKE IT
And I expected a book about a gang and the darkness that comes with that. But all they did was swimming in the pool, cooking dinner, playing poker, watching TV and doing laundry. I had absolutely no clue what the storyline was supposed to be.
And when we finally get some of the crime business, it’s utterly ridiculous. They all had names like, I don’t know, the first thing to your left or something. That would make gangster name “floor lamp”. Good enough.
And they all sit in meetings around big tables to run the business, all the rival leaders. They aren’t dealing with PR, it’s drugs. Nothing about that is supposed to be civilized.
And Cameron is supposed to be the leader of all the gangs in the US or something. The dude is 26, but acting like a twelve year old. He should be dark, morally questionable and dangerous. But he blushes and can’t maintain eye contact. Really a scary crime lord.
So every aspect of this book is unbelievable. And the writing is not that much better. It’s choppy and repetitive. Sometimes the name of the character doing the action, is written like three times in one sentence.
So we have bad writing, insufferable main characters, no storyline and unbelievable world building. I have to question the sanity of the person that approved this to be published.
