It's been a while since I visited this series...I forgot how much I like it! It's like visiting family after not seeing them for a couple of years. Going to try to catch up on the rest of the series this year!
One of the best. Great story, lots of Roark and Eve deepening their relationship, a pretty good red herring that I figured out early but Robb made me doubt myself, enriching friendships, and continued misuse of words and “sayings” by Eve. I love those. :)
I wasn't that interested in the murder in this book, mostly because he victim was a huge a-hole. I did, however, really enjoy all the seemingly mundane friendship interactions among the characters we've grown to live during the holiday season.
Wow.
I acknowledge the genius of Robb/Roberts.
This book was great. Not for the mystery- though that was solid - but for the characters in this series. I kept being afraid the mystery would wrap up before the Christmas party and Christmas. And then we’d miss it.
Because that’s what I really read these for - the ongoing nuggets and gems of the family of characters.
And how even the principles constantly evolve. Like the run of Eve misquoting aphorisms and idioms. Or the allusions to shared history from other books.
I’m at ... 39 of 50 or perhaps more, if you count short stories in there and already I’m torn between going back and starting over and going on- because I want to savor.
This series, I think it’s getting better. I’m enjoying it more. I’m finding myself bypassing other TBRs to continue.
Awesome.
This was one of my favorites so far. I’m so glad the party doesn’t get interrupted by the plot.

I enjoyed the book but there were to times that Eve didn't seem like Eve. Her bitchiness seemed forced. And enough with Christmas. It's only September and it almost seems as though the last book was in winter around the same time.
This was good - I particularly enjoyed the holiday stuff. It's always fun to see Eve having to do holiday shopping and also seeing how she's gone from being solitary to having this big group surround her. Not even close to solitary anymore!
They mystery was ok - I suspected the right person almost from the start. But I hated the dead guy (as did Eve) and unlike Eve, I didn't care as much about her figuring it out as a result. I know, not right. But I'm not a cop :)
On this binge, I have a feeling I might now stop unt I get current with the series...

this is a slower paced book in the series. I love the depiction of christmas at Rourke and Eve's.
