It took a little while to get into the actual story so I actually stopped reading it for a little while but once you do things happen all the time. I loved the magic system and I especially liked Bhumika, she is the moment and you need to put respect on her name <3 >:( <3.
Bhumika is what keeps everything from falling apart and I will cry so much if she dies in the next book, I will seek vengance on Tasha Suri myself if that happens. Ashok can go die in a hole (which he did lol). I hate him so much and could not find it in me to sympathise with his cause, when he was dying  or when he was dead.

I am absolutely loving how this story is unfolding, and I’m so excited to see how the rest of the trilogy goes.

I love when a book has a plot that just keeps coming and keeps the reader enthralled, and that’s definitely how this book was written. the use of different POV for that intimate look into a characters choices was wonderful, and the magical system being unique but easy to understand was an aspect I really enjoyed. Even when it was yucky.

Since the plot was very maintained in the one location for the most part, I think the world building felt like it was missing a little *oomf* to see exactly how detailed this world is, but I’m hoping the new adventure of book two will broaden the world.

oh i adored everything about this world. the nature-magic, the city states, the religions, and the yaksa are all such interesting concepts and so well crafted.

Priya, Malini and Bhumika’s characters really left an impact on me, they’re such excellently written characters with very interesting journeys. i will absolutely be reading book 2 and from where things left off i already know i’m gonna love it.

I really liked this book, and would love to read the sequels and other books like it. I did find it to be a bit slow to draw me in, even though a lot of the action was ongoing for much of the book. It felt almost wrong, given the events of the book to mark it as slow-paced, but it took me a long time to get a handle on the plot. Despite that, I really loved and enjoyed the story, and the characters, and am happy I read it!

While I really enjoyed the concepts and characters, the pacing was very slow. It meandered along an inevitable path, and was still pleasant to read, but took me a long time to fight through it.
